Vincent in Brixton

by

Nicholas Wright

Directed by Mike Bullimore

13th - 20th May 2017

What did happen at 87 Hackford Road in Brixton in the early 1870s? Research has shown that the young Vincent van Gogh stayed there and that he shared the house with the widow Ursula Loyer, her daughter Eugenie and another lodger called Sam. Through a series of intimate scenes in the kitchen of the house, Nicholas Wright's beautiful 'what if' play imagines the relationships between these characters as they wrestle with love and depression, politics and art. A fascinating and atmospheric play.
